Data Cleaning & Enrichment
In Partnership with the
Association of Nova Scotia Museums
During this partnership, I worked with the Admiral Digby Museum. I first reviewed 10 database records, ensuring that information was in the correct field, Nomenclature was followed, the begin and end dates were accurate, georeferences were documented, and there were no obvious spelling or grammatical errors. Some records contained issues that could not be addressed on my end (photographs, maker's marks, provenance etc.), and this was communicated with the institution.
I also selected one artifact, a crimping iron, for additional research and enrichment. Research was conducted using a variety of sources and new information was added to the database database records.
Following this, I made a list of recommendations for the institution in ways they could improve their database. This partnership provided me with experience using CollectiveAccess, and also taught me the importance of being thorough when cataloguing artifacts.
There was very little information in the database but I was able to provide some enrichment about the general history of the crimping iron.
